teaching concept
Our concept is based on Hatties study, (https://visible-learning.org/de/hattie-rangliste-einflussgroessen-effekte-lernerfolg/) on Visible learning, the curricula of the state Brandenburg, and our bilingual school curriculum.

Our pedagogic is visible through a variety of courses and projects in social learning, diagnostics and mentoring, and individual support and demand.

Our  educational programme challenges students, develops their performance,  fosters talents and strenghtens relationships. Individual focal points are  reviewed in small groups.

We use a number of learning tools to record students‘ performance.

Students‘ expectations of their own performance
Acticity is the key
Learners have to be active, make matters accessible to themselves, construct and structure their knowledge and gain experience.

Ideal learning conditions such as small classes, block lessons, no cancelled classes, method training, bilingual projects, and individual support lessons in small groups guarantee effective learning. Students are generalla learning in age-groups.

The system of double periods offers the students the opportunity for deepened studies, experimenting, doing their homework as well as practicing and repeating the lessons´contents.

As a further positive consequence, the students only have to concentrate on three to four different subjects every day. Moreover, the 9o-minute-sessions offer more flexibility in the teaching process and avoid unnecessary changes of rooms in the course of a school day.

Individual support and demand

With the help of a systematic diagnose of the learner´s individual preconditions and learning results, we are able to analyze the students´ learning processes. This is taken as a starting point for individual support and challenging of each student.

Bilingual teaching

Students get the chance to attend subjects of social and natural sciences in English.
Media competence - E-learning

Students   acquire media competence, practical know-how, and basic IT-skills in lessons   supported by digital devices.

Among those are smartboards, laptops, projectors, tablets, and learning software.

Our class rooms are equipped with either smartboards or beamers. In addition to traditional school materials, students are using tablets and laptops for their studies.

Our “Learning offices”

We expect from the students a disposition to actively create their learning process. We support them through offering the necessary framework conditions. The learning offices offer a space to work in a concentrated, self-responsible and silent environment.

The interconnection of single subjects is a further means to support the students´ self-responsible learning process.

Learn how to learn

Our teachers not only teach contents but also put a special focus on learning methods. The aim is to enable the students to grasp problems and solve them in an efficient way which forms an essential competence for their further professional lives. Students learn:

  • to set their own goals, relative to their own level of performance,
  • to  select and apply required strategies and techniques for a task,
  • to overcome difficulties,
  • to monitor, evaluate, and correct their own learning process,
  • to accept progress as a result of their own effort.

Constructive feedback between students-parents-teachers
Our mentors give appreciative and constructive feedback on students' performance. Students and mentors agree on objectives for students.

The main tool for support are individual learning agreements.

As well the students as the parents get feedback from the teacher or mentor on the student´s individual learning performance. Moreover, our teachers frequently ask for their students´ feedback.

Extracurricular learning places

Contents are more likely to stick to the memory when connected to emotions and real life experiences. We aim at putting the focus on an interconnection of theory and practice.

Our students enthusiastically take part in projects and competitions organized by the departments of natural and social sciences as well as economics.
